FSIC is running wood resource price indices services, that companies can use for long term contracts. The wide range of market information collected by FSIC allows for the creation of domestic and regional price indices for sawlogs, pulpwood and fuelwood assortments.
FSIC conducts monitoring of timber procurement prices in close cooperation with companies in the wood first-processing industry, and in energy sector. Working closely with the resource supply departments of market participants, data are compiled each month for the most important assortment groups. FSIC ensures information gathering from companies that collectively consume no less than 60% of Latvia’s timber resources.
The Forest Sector Information Centre (FSIC) was established in 2006 as a structural unit of the Latvian Forest Industry Federation. Since April 1, 2011, it has been integrated into SIA “Wood Products Research and Development Institute”. The mission is to supply forest industry companies with reliable information on wood resource prices and trends on Latvian wood market.
